2003 marked the fruition of the South-West Liberia Conference’s
dream to establish an education institute in the 72nd Community,
Paynesville in line with the vision and mission of the worldwide
church: to produce leaders with virtues based on the trio of the Godhead
through education. Thus, James N. Davies SDA School was established,
starting with the Preschool and Elementary levels. Years later, as the
institution expanded in terms of infrastructural development and student
growth, the need to elevate the school to a full high school became necessary. The Preschool and Elementary divisions were
voted at an education board meeting to be separated from the high school
divisions and relocated to a new campus. The Junior and Senior Secondary
Divisions both remain on the main campus fueled by the passion to spread
its brand of quality education in the 72nd Community, the James
N. Davies SDA School Junior and Senior Secondary Divisions in the City of
Paynesville, 72nd Junction, was established with the believe
that education without the knowledge of God is meaningless.
While the initial plan was for JND to offer preschool and
elementary programs, a shift to Junior and Senior Secondary education was
made in response to the community's clamor for a good basic education
provider within the neighborhood. Soon after, the Junior and Secondary
education divisions was in full swing from preschool to grade 10,
preparations of JND were directed to the senior high school (SHS) program in
response to the high school initiative of the Department of Education of the
Seventh-day Adventist Church and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of
Liberia.
Finally, with the junior and senior secondary education
programs in place, JND began its application for a full Senior Secondary
Education Operation Permit. This decision was made known to the South-West
Liberia Conference leadership and the SDA Education Secretariat.
JND fully recognizes its uniquely talented students by providing
them with student-centered, engaging, and values-based learning
opportunities. Through constant exposure to both on-campus and off-campus
activities, our students are able to gain confidence, optimism, compassion,
and humility whilst developing skills that will help them find their place
in the world. Here, they are encouraged to challenge themselves beyond
their expected level of performances, increasing their experiences of
success in a variety of learning areas.
